Naphthalene 1,5 Disulfonic Acid - (Armstrong Acid)

Armstrong Acid or 1,5-Naphthalenedisulfonic acid (1,5-NDSA) is an organic acid with the chemical formula C10H8O6S2.

APPEARANCE

It is a white to yellowish solid that is slightly soluble in water and highly soluble in polar organic solvents

USES

It is used in the production of dyes, pigments, and other industrial chemicals. It also functions as a chelating agent and a complexing agent, which are used in various applications such as water treatment, analytical chemistry, and mineral processing. 1,5-NDSA is also used as an intermediate in the synthesis of other compounds and can be used in a process of making phthalocyanines, which are a class of complex macrocyclic compounds that are used as pigments, catalysts, and in various electronic applications.
